IT Field Engineer – Remote (Leeds-Based Office)
Type: Permanent
Location: Remote (with regular travel to client sites, based from the Leeds office)
Salary: £30,000 – £35,000 (dependent on experience)
Hours: Choice of 8am–5pm or 9am–6pm shifts
Holiday: 23 days annual leave + public holidays
Overview:
We’re working in partnership with a well-established and growing IT services provider to recruit an experienced IT Field Engineer. This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive and expanding team in a role that offers both variety and progression.
The role is predominantly field-based, involving installations and support at client sites and other office locations. You’ll also contribute to the wider service desk team by handling technical escalations and supporting project delivery alongside the professional services team.
This position would suit someone who is self-motivated, technically strong, and eager to contribute to the development of others while continuing to grow their own skillset.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver on-site installations and technical support at customer locations.
- Respond to and resolve escalated issues from the service desk.
- Work closely with the professional services team to implement technical projects.
- Support and mentor junior team members to encourage continuous learning.
- Travel between offices and client sites as required.
- Maintain documentation, ensure best practices, and uphold high service standards.
Essential Experience & Knowledge:
We’re looking for someone with experience in a similar field-based IT role and strong knowledge of:
- Microsoft 365: Security policies, Intune, Compliance, Azure, Exchange Online, Entra ID
- Infrastructure: Dell/HP/Supermicro servers, SANs, RAID, Hyper-V clustering
- Networking: VLANs, routing, NAT, ACLs, SonicWall firewalls, Unifi hardware
- Backups: Best practices, error resolution, and performance monitoring
- Operating Systems: Windows 10, Windows 11, Server 2016 and above
- Connectivity: Line configuration and troubleshooting
- VOIP: Setup and ongoing support of VOIP systems
- Licence: Full UK driving licence with business insurance is essential
Desirable Skills:
- Exposure to or experience with Linux systems
- Microsoft certifications (e.g., MTA, MCSA, AZ-104, etc.)
