SENIOR ACCOUNT - PRACTICE
Location: York / hybrid work model available
Salary: up to £45,000, dependent on experience
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent, 37hrs/wk

At Mpeople, we’re proud to be supporting a well-established and forward-thinking accountancy practice with the appointment of a Senior Accountant. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced practice accountant who is confident managing a client portfolio and contributing to a collaborative team environment.

You do not need to be fully qualified for this role; candidates who are part-qualified or qualified by experience are encouraged to apply. Audit exposure would be advantageous, but is not essential.

The Role
As a Senior Accountant, you will take responsibility for the delivery of accounting and compliance services across a varied client base, working closely with managers and partners while supporting junior team members.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing a portfolio of clients including owner-managed businesses and limited companies
• Preparation of statutory accounts
• Preparation and review of management accounts
• Corporation tax computations and returns
• Personal tax returns for directors and individuals
• Acting as a key point of contact for client queries
• Supporting and mentoring junior members of the team
• Assisting with audit assignments where applicable

About You

• Proven experience working within an accountancy practice environment
• Part-qualified, qualified by experience, or studying towards ACA / ACCA / AAT
• Strong understanding of UK accounting standards and compliance requirements
• Confident managing workloads and client deadlines
• Audit experience is ideal but not essential
• Strong communication skills and attention to detail
• Comfortable using accounting software (Xero, Sage, etc) and Microsoft Excel
