We are currently recruiting a Purchasing Supervisor for a well-established Manufacturer with a recognised brand, a large client base where you will be based at the Head Office in Bury. Your main function will be overseeing and maintaining the procurement of all raw goods and materials across the company, manage the supply chain to ensure continuity of the manufacturing process, negotiate terms to support cost saving, quality and price, support ongoing supplier relationships and contributing to the overall success and development of the business. Hours Monday to Friday 40 hours per week, with a flexible working pattern of 8.00 am to 4.30 pm or 8.30 am to 5.00 pm with 30 minutes for lunch. Salary is £27,000 to £30,000.
As a Purchasing Supervisor your responsibilities would include:
- Day to day procurement of supplies, to ensure continuity of the overall manufacturing process.
- Supervise direct reports in the purchasing administration team, ensure that a safe working environment and safe working practices are maintained.
- Maintain and update the purchasing and accounting software programmes using the purchase order processing and stock control systems currently in place.
- Assist and review the current procurement process to identify and report on areas of weakness, provide suggestions for development to ensure continuous improvement.
- Create and maintain close working relationships with suppliers, hold regular reviews to identify high-volume items and high-volume discounts, negotiating prices, lead times and stockholding.
- Monitor suppliers and manufacturers performance to ensure timely deliveries of the correct items, to overcome any product issue, identifying alternative products and suppliers if required.
- Ensure invoice queries are raised and resolved with suppliers.
- Oversee stock levels and chase overdue/ forward orders from suppliers making sure they arrive on time to ensure the business will fulfil its orders.
- Work with goods inward, confirm orders have been received and resolve any incoming quality issues.
- Work closely with the Finance Manager and internal departments to ensure regularly purchased and high-value items are bought efficiently, track, measure and analyse company expenditures, profitability and ensure efficient use of stocks
- Liaise with all departments and provide delivery and ETA dates, plan and place purchase orders with suppliers, considering the lead times, volumes needed, and required storage space.
- Ensure invoice queries are raised and resolved with suppliers.
- Assist with general enquiries from other departments within the business.
The ideal Purchasing Supervisor would meet the following:
- A purchasing background in manufacturing, FMCG or transferable industry however training will be given so applicants will be considered from other purchasing backgrounds, with experience of working in a similar position
- A CIPS qualification, or work based equivalent would be advantageous.
- Supervised a team, along with delegating and prioritising workloads daily.
- Strong communicator able to delegate in writing as well as face to face interactions with the team.
- Required the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a high attention to detail, the ability to meet deadlines and a positive attitude.
- Ability to multitask and prioritise own workload.
- IT literate in Microsoft Office Packages Word, Excel, Outlook and Sage 50 or Sage.
