Salary: £16,224 – £20,280 per annum, depending on experience
Hours: 20–25 hours per week, over 3–4 days (flexible)

About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Part-Time Payroll Administrator to join our growing accountancy practice. You will be responsible for delivering accurate and timely payroll services to a portfolio of clients across various industries.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with prior experience in a practice environment who is looking for part-time, flexible working hours within a supportive and professional team.


Key Responsibilities

  • Process weekly, fortnightly, and monthly payrolls for a portfolio of clients
  • Input and manage payroll data, including starters, leavers, holiday pay, and statutory payments (SSP, SMP, etc.)
  • Submit Real Time Information (RTI) to HMRC
  • Prepare and distribute payslips, P45s, and P60s
  • Calculate and notify clients of PAYE and NIC liabilities
  • Manage auto-enrolment duties including pension submissions and assessments
  • Handle and submit CIS returns as required
  • Respond to payroll queries from clients by email or phone in a timely and professional manner
  • Liaise with HMRC and pension providers
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payroll legislation and compliance
  • Assist with general office administration as needed

Key Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience in a practice environment minimum of 2 years
  • Sound knowledge of payroll legislation, tax codes, and pension auto-enrolment
  • Experience using cloud and digital payroll systems
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook
  • Ability to manage workload independently and meet deadlines
  • Familiarity with CIS processes (desirable)
