About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our team in the heat treatment industry. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in both electrical and mechanical maintenance, ideally gained within manufacturing, engineering, or industrial process environments.
This is a hands-on role where you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and improving our production machinery, including heat treatment furnaces, ovens, and associated plant equipment. You will also be involved in fault finding and repairs on PLC-controlled systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventive maintenance (PPM) on machinery and plant
- Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults on a wide range of equipment
- Perform PLC fault finding and make adjustments where required (Siemens, Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi preferred)
- Work with hydraulics, pneumatics, motors, drives, and control systems
- Respond promptly to reactive maintenance issues to minimise downtime
- Support and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation
- Adhere to health & safety policies, ensuring a safe working environment
Skills & Experience Required
- Proven experience as a multi-skilled engineer in an industrial/manufacturing/heat treatment environment
- Strong electrical knowledge – 17th or 18th Edition (City & Guilds) or equivalent
- Solid mechanical maintenance skills, including hydraulics, pneumatics, and fabrication
- Experience with PLC fault finding (Siemens, Allen Bradley, or Mitsubishi)
- HNC / HND / NVQ Level 3 in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach
Desirable
- Previous experience with heat treatment processes, furnaces, or ovens
- Experience in process plant maintenance
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement practices
