The Role:
As a Multi-Biased Maintenance Engineer, your primary role will be to ensure the smooth operation of the plant by responding swiftly to equipment failures and implementing an effective preventative maintenance programme. You will work across two sites (Standish and Wigan), delivering a professional, safe, and timely service, while ensuring all tasks are completed to the highest standard.
Key Responsibilities:
- Complete all required documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
- Provide comprehensive mechanical and electrical maintenance services across the plant, including the Lamberhead manufacturing site in Pemberton when needed.
- Conduct maintenance and repairs on steam boilers, pumps, gearboxes, agitators, and other essential plant equipment.
- Maintain and repair electrical plant equipment where necessary.
- Assist with the installation of chemical plant equipment, valves, and pressure relief valves under management of change procedures.
- Carry out general building and electrical maintenance.
- Quickly resolve any unplanned breakdowns in a safe and efficient manner.
- Collaborate with the Maintenance Manager to minimise downtime during scheduled shutdowns while maintaining safe working procedures.
- Report any incidents or issues promptly using the company’s reporting systems.
- Respond to corrective and preventative action requirements within agreed timeframes.
- Undertake additional duties as required by the Directors.
Multi-Biased Maintenance Engineer Key Requirements:
- Completed a full apprenticeship with a mechanical and electrical bias.
- Prior experience in a similar role, preferably in an ATEX chemical or process-type industry. An understanding of COMAH regulations is desirable (training will be provided).
- Qualification in 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (C&G 2382) and Test & Inspect 2391. Some instrumentation experience is advantageous.
- Experience with electrical infrastructure systems (single and three-phase).
- Desirable certifications: CompEx (EX01-04), IOSH Managing Safely.
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal), with the ability to build effective relationships and work collaboratively.
- A proactive, hands-on attitude with the ability to prioritise tasks and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
