Reports To: Engineering & Plant Maintenance Manager
Salary: Dependent on experience
Shift Pattern: 6:00 AM - 2:00 PM

Role Overview:
Our client is seeking a skilled Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring machinery and equipment operate efficiently through effective maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting. Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, as well as hydraulic and pneumatic controls, is essential. A focus on continuous improvement and proactive problem-solving is key for this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out routine maintenance and inspections on a variety of equipment, including automated systems and material handling solutions.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults.
  • Manage and execute Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) to ensure continuous production.
  • Record issues and faults using the CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management System).
  • Respond to breakdowns and service requests promptly to reduce downtime.
  • Collaborate with production teams to enhance equipment efficiency and improve processes.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations and company policies.
  • Assess machinery for compliance with safety standards and regulations.
  • Keep accurate records of maintenance tasks and spare parts inventory.
  • Participate in problem-solving initiatives to improve machinery or processes.
  • Assist in developing engineering solutions and optimising production processes.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • HNC or equivalent qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Proven experience in maintenance engineering, ideally within a manufacturing or production environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to maintenance.
  • Familiarity with root cause analysis techniques, including 5 Whys.
  • IPAF/PASMA certification for MEWP (categories 3A and 3B).
  • Ability to interpret electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic drawings.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
