Position: Family Lawyer – Private & Legal Aid Work

Our client is a respected and long-established law firm based in Yorkshire, operating from several branches across the region. Their Crossgates office has been a core part of the community for many years, focusing on private client legal services including Family Law, Conveyancing, and Wills & Probate.
Role Summary:
The firm is seeking an experienced Family Lawyer to join the Crossgates team. This role involves managing a varied caseload of family matters including both private and legal aid funded work. You will be supporting clients through often sensitive situations, ensuring high levels of professionalism and care throughout.
Key Responsibilities:

Manage a caseload of family matters from instruction to completion

Handle a range of issues including divorce, separation, financial settlements, child arrangements, and domestic abuse

Draft statements, applications, and court pleadings

Apply for legal aid where appropriate

Conduct advocacy in court

Respond to new client enquiries and maintain strong communication

Support other fee earners within the Family department
Required Skills and Qualifications:

Minimum of 5 years PQE in Family Law (flexible for the right candidate)

Experience in both private and legal aid funded family law cases

Confident in advocacy and legal drafting

Excellent attention to detail, organisational and communication skills

Proficient IT skills and ability to manage digital case systems

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Current Practising Certificate as a Solicitor or CILEX
