Mpeople Recruitment are currently seeking an experienced and thorough Transport Planner (Nights) on behalf of our client who are a reputable and thriving logistics provider based in Rochdale.
- Location: Rochdale (OL16)
- Hours of work: 22:30 – 07:30, Sunday PM to Friday AM (Nights)
- Salary: Between £30,000 - £36,000

The Transport Planner will be responsible for the cost-effective and coordination of deliveries and collections within a specified area, and for any associated administrative tasks.
Duties will include but not be limited to:
- Plan delivery and collection routes for next day
- Communicate with the business’ partner regarding repair and maintenance schedule for the fleet
- Focus on cost efficiency in terms of planning without compromising on quality
- Driver briefing prior to their departures
- Management of agency cover resource in conjunction with daytime team
- Responsibility on shift for the Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) as well as other data which presents itself during the shift
- Manage and allocate collections for Drivers and ensure they are putting in the right tour/relation
- Administration for all consignments ensuring accurate coding
- Management of driver and vehicle schedules and arrivals
- Short Distance despatch and support
- 2nd Tour planning processing
- Driver and Vehicle Audits to be carried out
- Managing and supporting Warehouse/ Short Distance Planning team with fleet discrepancies, load planning and any additional issues that may arise
- Managing and supporting warehouse with Euro Inbound arrivals to incorporate all administration duties via Domino during the shift
- Communication to sending branches, correspondents and internal contacts for late arrivals
- Effective communication with other departments in Rochdale and the UK as well as other branches in the Network ensuring good working relationships, and ensuring agreed service levels are met
- Ensure that all reporting procedures are complied with and that all paperwork is accurate and efficiently handled including but not limited to POD’s, CUIF’s loading and unloading paperwork
- Effective communication using the appropriate handovers and verbal dialect with the day shift team, and all involved
The required traits, skills, and background:
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience within transport planning and UK road operations is essential
- Experience of planning multi-drop vehicles is essential
- Experience of working closely with and managing drivers is also essential
- A good geographical knowledge of England (mainly the North)
- Excellent communication skills, the ability to listen, and the enthusiasm to delivery a high level of customer service
- Able to maintain attention to detail and high levels of accuracy within a fast-paced demanding environment
- Problem-solving skills
- The ability to work efficiently independently and on your own initiative
