Mpeople Recruitment are currently seeking an experienced Production Planning and Inventory Manager on behalf of our client who are a reputable and well-established business located in Whitworth, Rochdale.

· Hours: Monday – Friday, 37.5 hours

· Location: Whitworth, Rochdale (OL12)

· Salary: £27,000 - £35,000 dependent on experience within Production Planning, Purchasing and Stock management within Manufacturing

As the Production Planning and Inventory Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all activities related to the company’s materials purchasing, production planning, subcontract manufacturing coordination and inventory management to provide the maximum service levels to the business’ customers as well as financial controls of material costs and inventories.

To be considered for this role it is essential that you have experience within the Manufacturing industry. Production Planning experience is also essential.

What will you duties be as the Production Planning and Inventory Manager?

• Reviewing and updating supply chain practices in line with company policies, standards, laws and regulations

• Planning and preparation of weekly production schedules for Operations Teams for 12 manufacturing lines serving over 300 active customers and 500 active products

• Negotiating terms and prices with suppliers for £1.5 million/annum purchasing spend across materials, packaging etc., monitoring and assessing their performance and maintaining cost-effective practices

• Placing of material purchase orders with suppliers and tracking on time delivery

• Analysing the supply chain data, seeking improvement opportunities, solving any issues or putting alternative plans in place • Identifying and minimising risk by predicting the demand for products

• Managing inventory levels of around £750,000 including cycle counting, monthly and quarterly stock takes

• Managing 3rd party Sub-contract manufacturing and production

• Management of the company’s ERP system Supply Chain module and product and materials master data

• Updating and maintaining costing data for materials, work in progress (WIP) and products

• Liaising with non-UK suppliers and haulage/import organisations for in-bound materials

• Defining, monitoring and evaluating Supply Chain KPIs

• Strong working relationship with Sales and Customer Services teams for updating of lead times, progress on customer orders etc.

• Strong working relationship with Operations teams for ensuring fulfilment of production schedules and inventory accuracy

• Liaising, visiting and working with the company’s major customers’ purchasing contacts for product sales volumes, forecasting, commitments on supply and demand requirements

The required traits, skills, and background

A successful Production Planning and Inventory Manager candidate will have various skills and qualifications to perform their duties effectively, these include:

• Strong planning and purchasing skills, ideally with some understanding of MRP and MRP 2 principles

• Excellent time management skills and the ability to work under pressure while maintaining accuracy as well as ability to multi-task

• Ability to work alone with strong initiative as well as a team player

• Strategic planning and thinking, systems analysis and evaluation

• Relationship management skills and active listening

• Problem solving skills

• Interpersonal skills with the ability to develop good cross functional, and collaborative working relationships across operational environments as well as interacting with senior management

• In-depth knowledge of business IT systems including Microsoft Office

• Understanding of risk management within the supply chain of the company

• 5 years’ experience in a complex manufacturing environment in Supply Chain/ Purchasing/Planning roles

• Minimum of high GSCE level grades in Maths and English

• Further education levels or demonstration of additional skills training in Supply Chain, Purchasing, Planning, Logistics are favourable
